Arrest over historic sex assaults
A man has been arrested over the alleged sexual assault of a number of girls in Melbourne’s east in the 1980s and 1990s.
The 59-year-old Mooroolbark man is being interviewed by police following an investigation into the historical sexual assault allegations, Victoria Police said.
Police said a number of incidents were reported over a 10-year period in Mooroolbark and Lilydale.

“A number of the sexual assaults are reported to have occurred in Mooroolbark in September 1982 at a residential property on Croydondale Drive and near a park at the intersection of Croydondale drive and Ellen Road,” Victoria Police said in a statement.
“These incidents involved underage girls.
“A further sexual assault is reported to have occurred at a residential property on Gladstone Street, Lilydale in 1990 and 1991.”
The victim of the Lilydale assault was in her 20s, police said.
