Coles has announced more than 200 redundancies from its Melbourne head office.
The supermarket chain on Tuesday said 97 permanent roles and 108 contracted positions would go from the company’s IT and project management divisions.
A Coles spokesman says it will not affect customer service roles.

“The restructure will help create a simpler, more efficient organisation so that we can lower prices for our customers and improve our stores both today and well into the future,” he said in a statement.
The redundancies will come into effect in coming months.
Coles in September last year announced it was slashing 378 permanent jobs and 60 contractors from its Melbourne head office, mostly salaried staff and middle management positions.
