Taxi hits two at Melb airport

Traffic is being diverted at Melbourne International Airport after a cab driver lost control of his car and slammed into two pedestrians, reportedly trapping one between a van and the taxi.

According to The Age, the incident occurred on Airside Drive just before 4am this morning.

Reports suggest the driver of the cab got his foot caught between two pedals before hitting the two men.

“Departures Drive is going to be closed probably for a couple of hours while our major crash detectives are out there. While it’s probably not that busy now it’s only going to get more busy,” police told 774.

Ambulance spokesman Paul Bentley told The Age that two advanced life support ambulances, an intensive care ambulance and a paramedic team were called to the scene.

All traffic to the departures drive at the airport is reportedly being diverted to the lower deck.
