Search for swimmer ends after remains found
The 34-year-old Colombian man was swimming with a friend when he got caught in a rip at Station Beach, near Cape Otway, on Sunday afternoon.
The friend made it back to shore but the man was swept away in heavy surf.
Acting Sergeant Ray Doensen said police would carry out forensic tests on the remains.
“We will be conducting further testing to make sure that this is the male but from what we’ve found it is him,” he said.
