Victorian bushfire threatening property
A bushfire is threatening properties in central Victoria, with an emergency warning issued for Lyal, Myrtle Creek, Pilchers Bridge and Redesdale by the Country Fire Authority.
The fire is travelling northwest from Newnhams Lane towards Myrtle Creek.
The fire is in the area of Newnhams Lane, Jibbards Lane, North Redesdale Road and Metcalfe Poole.
State Control Centre spokesperson Gerard Scholten said 25 firefighting trucks were in use.
“The safest option is to take shelter indoors immediately,” Mr Scholten said.
People who aren’t close to shelter are advised to stay in a large open area such as a ploughed paddock or a dam.
The CFA says it is now too late for residents to leave the area.
