PM ‘listened’ over schools funding
The prime minister has listened to Victoria’s consistent message about schools funding, Victorian Education Minister Martin Dixon says.
Schools in Victoria will now have greater certainty about future funding, he says.
Prime Minister Tony Abbott has announced an agreement for a national schools funding system, which includes the $1.2 billion set aside by the former Labor government.
Mr Dixon said the announcement shows that Mr Abbott is committed to the statements he made about federal funding for schools.
“The Victorian government will now finalise arrangements for funding for 2014,” Mr Dixon said.
