Tas premier sees governor amid poll talk
Tasmanian Premier Lara Giddings has been to see the state’s governor and is expected to announce an election date.
Ms Giddings visited Governor Peter Underwood at Government House on Thursday morning, the governor’s website says.
The premier is expected to announce an election date later on Thursday and is also tipped to end the power-sharing deal with the Tasmanian Greens.
Ms Giddings has hinted at a March election, although the poll can be held any time up until May 24.
Speculation centres around a March 15 poll.
The Liberal opposition has ruled out a deal with any party to rule in the state’s 25-seat lower house.
