Labor MP calls for Lara Giddings to be dumped
Tasmanian Labor MP Brenton Best has made an explosive call for his leader, the Premier Lara Giddings to be dumped.
The member for Braddon, Brenton Best, has been an outspoken critic of the Labor-Green power sharing deal and in recent months has repeatedly attacked Greens Leader Nick McKim.
Lara Giddings’ recent statement, that she would again enter a power-sharing arrangement after the March election if necessary, appears to have been the final straw for Mr Best.
The Labor backbencher says he has told the Premier repeatedly that he did not have confidence in her.
“She didn’t want to hear it so where do you go? There’s been a bit of a dictatorial style,” Mr Best said.
He says branch members of the party, union leaders and the community at large are not happy with the Premier.
He is touting Economic Development minister David O’Byrne as a replacement.
