A Porsche driver is facing a slew of charges over a terrifying Queensland highway crime spree which included carjackings, a shooting and a fatal crash.
Tewantin man Bradley Donald Towle, 41, is accused of causing a six-car pile-up that killed a 22-year-old woman on the Sunshine Coast’s Bruce Highway on Easter Monday.
He then allegedly emerged from his crumpled Porsche Macan and shot the male driver of a SsangYong Rexton who had stopped to help.
Towle drove off in the allegedly stolen Rexton, which was found crashed 20 minutes later.
After fleeing that vehicle, Towle then allegedly carjacked at gunpoint a grey Mazda 3 driven by a 16-year-old female learner driver.
The teenager and her parents ran from the vehicle and were not injured.
Dramatic police bodycam footage reveals the moments Towle was finally apprehended at a Landsborough intersection, about 30 minutes after the initial fatal crash at midday.
In the video, the suspect is seen wearing high-visibility clothing as police shout at him and order him to exit the allegedly stolen car.
The officers restrain the man and place him in handcuffs with his hands behind his back as he lies face down on the bitumen.
An officer then searches the allegedly stolen vehicle and discovers a loaded shotgun.
“We’ve got one (shell) in the chamber, loaded and cocked,” the officer said.
Police said the 22-year-old woman who was killed in the crash was from Upper Mount Gravatt.
“The driver of the Porsche Macan allegedly lost control of the vehicle and struck the passenger side of a Nissan Micra,” police said in a statement.
The Nissan’s driver — a 22-year-old Strathpine man — was taken to hospital with minor injuries.
The Rexton-driving Good Samaritan was a 62-year-old man, and he was allegedly shot in the arm after an altercation with Towle.
The alleged shooting victim was taken to hospital, while his car was found crashed at nearby Landsborough about 20 minutes later.
Towle was arrested about 12.50pm on Monday at a Landsborough intersection on the Sunshine Coast, about 30 minutes after the fatal crash.
A firearm was found inside the vehicle, police said.
Towle sustained head and body injuries in the traffic incidents and was taken to Sunshine Coast University Hospital, where he remained under police guard on Tuesday.

“Investigations are continuing with further charges likely,” police said, urging anyone with information about the incidents to come forward.
Towle’s case was mentioned briefly in Maroochydore Magistrates Court on Tuesday.
The case was adjourned until Wednesday, with Towle set to be moved from the hospital to a police watchhouse.
