A badly burned baby’s mum has shared an update as the boy undergoes several surgeries from a stranger pouring hot coffee over him.

The Brisbane mum said her nine-month-old was due to have his third surgery on Tuesday since last week’s “horrific event that should never have happened”.

“Luka has been incredibly resilient. He’s up and about, walking and causing chaos,” she posted on Facebook.

“He is such a strong little boy and we are so so proud of him.”

She thanked the public who had donated more than $114,000 on GoFundMe, which would help with ongoing care and expenses.

“We would like to thank each and every one of you for your kindness and generosity during such a difficult and traumatic time for us,” she said.

“We have been blown away by all the support, both with donations and those reaching out with words of encouragement.

“This GoFundMe will be able to support [Luka] with all of his ongoing care needs, which is truly a weight lifted off our shoulders.”

She said the funding would also help with mental health treatment for herself and a friend who witnessed the attack when they were having a picnic in Hanlon Park in Stones Corner.

“Given the nature of the event this will be an extremely long journey ahead for us all,” she said.

Last week, the mum said she was having panic attacks while the stranger who poured hot coffee on her son was still at large.

The infant had a second round of surgery last Friday after suffering burns to his face and body in the random attack.

The mum said she was still reeling from the incident and was fearful of another.

“I play it over in my head constantly,” she said.

“If he can do this to an innocent baby, he can do a lot worse. I don’t want any more harm to anyone.”

Police hope someone recognises a man in enhanced images they have released.

“Please come forward if you know this man,” the mother said.

The man sought by police was wearing glasses, a shirt, shorts and a black hat. He is believed to be aged about 30 to 40, with a proportionate build and tanned skin.
