An off-duty police officer has been stood down and an internal investigation is under way after video emerged of him appearing to headbutt a teen in regional Queensland.
Video of the confrontation in Dalby, west of Brisbane, on Sunday shows a confrontation between the man and a group of teenagers before the man warns the boy to walk away.
“You’ve got three seconds to walk away or I headbutt you,” the man can be heard saying in the video posted by the Seven Network.
As the bickering continues, the teen is heard saying: “You are a pig, you are nothing without the badge.”
The pair then come face-to-face before the man appears to headbutt the teen.
Queensland Police said the Ethical Standards Command was investigating the incident.
“The officer is under investigation by ESC and will also be subject to oversight by the Crime and Corruption Commission,” it said in a statement.
“The officer has been stood down pending investigation.”
