Mother, son critical after being run over in driveway

A woman and her teenage son are in a critical condition in hospital after being run over in a driveway in Brisbane’s inner-south.

Police said a man reversed an SUV from a property in Vanda Street at Woolloongabba about 6:30pm on Tuesday, hitting his 50-year-old wife and 14-year-old son, with the woman trapped for some time underneath the vehicle.

Fire crews used high pressure bags to lift the car off her.

She and the teenager both suffered critical injuries.

Two off-duty paramedics helped treat the pair before ambulances arrived.

The woman was revived at the scene before being taken to the Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane where she remains in a critical but stable condition.

The teenager was taken to the Lady Cilento Children’s Hospital at South Brisbane.

The police forensic crash unit is investigating the accident.
