A Queensland RSPCA pet store has removed a Julia Gillard dog-chew toy from shelves after being flooded with complaints.
Australia’s first female prime minister was dolled up as a big-nosed rubber toy, dressed in navy-blue suit with deep-red hair.
But an RSPCA spokesman, Michael Beatty, said the toys had been mistakenly taken out of storage by a volunteer, AAP reported.
“About six years ago we had Tony Abbott and Julia Gillard toys which we sold,” he said.
RSPCA have pulled the dolls from shelves after receiving am avalanche of disgruntled social media responses.
So apart from dodgy pet insurance the @RSPCA is also selling tasteless Julia Gillard chew toys? Don't expect any donations from me anymore.

I will never donate money to @RSPCA again because of @JuliaGillard chew dolls. Disrespectful and promotes violence against women.

The Abbott dolls sold out, but there were a number of Gillard toys left over, which were packed away in storage.
Several women’s equality groups have also criticised the animal welfare organisation for the caricatures of Australia’s first female prime minister were being sold for $20.
