One dead in Christmas Eve bus-car collision

A man has died and a woman and child have been taken to hospital after a car and bus crashed on the Warrego Highway at Oakey, west of Brisbane.

The bus had 18 people onboard when it collided with a car about 8.30am (AEST) near the Oakey bypass.

A man driving a four-wheel-drive was pronounced dead on the scene.

A woman and a child who were passengers in the vehicle have been taken to the Toowoomba hospital in stable condition with non-life threatening injuries.

Passengers on the bus were treated at the scene for minor injuries.

The Warrego Highway at the Oakey bypass has been closed in both east and west directions.

Road diversions are in place either through Oakey township, or down through the Pittsworth Road and Aubigney Roads at Oakey.

The police forensic crash unit is investigating.
