An 18-year-old male schoolie is in an induced coma after a fight broke out at the Gold Coast on Friday morning.

Queenslnad Police said the alleged assault occurred after an argument at Cavill Avenue.

“An 18-year-old male schoolie from Queensland was punched and assaulted by two male schoolies aged 17 and 18 years,” the police statement said. 

“Police have charged a 17-year-old schoolie with grievous bodily harm and an 18-year-old schoolie with two counts of common assault.

“Both teenagers from New South Wales will appear in the Southport Magistrates Court today.”

The victim is in hospital undergoing medical treatment for his injuries.

Overnight, 11 male schoolies were arrested on 13 charges including the assault and public nuisance.

There were 36 liquor infringement notices issued to schoolies drinking in a public place.

Police said it was one of the “busiest nights” for authorities of the seven-day policing operation at Schoolies.
