Minutes after a woman fell to her death from a Gold Coast apartment, firefighters were called to a “gas hazard” at the same building.

Police say the woman fell from a unit on the 13th floor of a block on Wahroonga Place, Surfers Paradise, about 2.30am (AEST) on Friday.

They are reportedly investigating whether a man was in the apartment when the woman fell.

Firefighters were called to a “gas hazard” at the same block 15 minutes after the incident.

A Queensland Fire and Rescue Service spokeswoman says its crews carried out atmospheric testing.

“But that matter is now in the hands of police,” she said.

Police will hold a media conference about the death at 11am.
