Baden-Clay to give evidence
Former real estate agent Gerard Baden-Clay is set to give evidence at his own murder trial.
Baden-Clay’s barrister Michael Byrne QC told the Supreme Court in Brisbane on Thursday his client would give evidence in his defence.
“At the forefront of what he will tell you is that he did not kill his wife,” Mr Byrne said, addressing the jury.
Baden-Clay has pleaded not guilty to murdering his wife Allison in April 2012.
Her body was found on a creek bank in Anstead in Brisbane’s west on April 30, 2012.
Baden-Clay had reported her missing from their home in nearby Brookfield 10 days earlier.
The Crown closed its case on Wednesday after 10 days and 71 witnesses.
