A six-year-old girl has allegedly been dragged away from her brothers and sisters and raped in a town camp on the outskirts of Alice Springs.

Police have a man in custody who is assisting them with their inquiries into the alleged incident.

The family of the girl alleged she was taken from her parents’ home in the Hidden Valley town camp by a man late on Saturday.

They said she had been playing with her siblings in the yard when she was dragged away and raped.

They told the ABC they are devastated at events.

It is understood the child is being treated at the Alice Springs Hospital.
