Teen, 18, in custody after fatal daylight Sydney hair salon stabbing

A teenager remains in police custody accused of stabbing another young man in a Sydney hair salon.

The 20-year-old victim died in Liverpool Hospital just after 5pm on Friday, five hours after he was stabbed multiple times in the upper body while having his hair cut at a salon in Bossley Park.

Detectives are “treating the incident as targeted”, they said in a statement.

The alleged assailant, who is 18, was arrested on nearby Tallowood Crescent.

“He’s assisting police with their inquiries,” a NSW Police spokesman told AAP.

Emergency services were called to the salon on Mimosa Road at 12.38pm on Friday to reports a man had been stabbed by an “unknown offender”.

Four NSW Ambulance crews attended the scene and found the victim in cardiac arrest on the pavement outside the salon.

Paramedics resuscitated the 20-year-old man before he underwent emergency surgery at Liverpool Hospital. He died in hospital several hours later.

Witnesses told Nine News the attacker arrived on a motorbike and kept on his helmet as he carried out the targeted attack.

At about 5pm, officers swooped on a house on Tallowood Crescent, Bossley Park, where they arrested an 18-year-old man.

He was led from the residence with his hands bound in paper bags and a yellow towel draped over his head.

No charges have been laid and the identities of both men has not been released.
