A man has been shot dead while standing in a driveway in Sydney’s west overnight.

Ballistic and forensic specialists have been examining the crime scene at Kingswood where a man, aged in his thirties, was shot dead just after midnight on Wednesday.

Police said a vehicle was seen leaving the area a short time after the shooting, but no description of the vehicle was available.

Paramedics treated the man, but he died at the scene, police said.

Detectives from the Penrith Local Area Command and the Homicide Squad are investigating.
