Women wield power in Baird’s new cabinet
The NSW Government’s new cabinet has been sworn in at a ceremony at Government House.
The front bench includes the state’s first female Treasurer, Gladys Berejiklian, and first female Attorney-General, Gabrielle Upton.

Reshuffle at a glance:
- Deputy Premier Troy Grant becomes Police and Justice Minister
- Gabrielle Upton becomes Attorney-General in a straight swap with Brad Hazzard
- Brad Hazzard takes Ms Upton’s Family and Community Services portfolio
- Gladys Berejiklian moves to Treasurer in a straight swap with Andrew Constance
- Andrew Constance becomes Transport Minister
- Rob Stokes moves from Environment to Planning
The team, which Premier Mike Baird unveiled yesterday, walked through the gates of Government House together accompanied by members of their families.
They were then sworn in by the Governor David Hurley in a ceremony held in the grand ballroom.
Four new faces are joining the front bench, Nationals MPs Niall Blair and Leslie Williams, and Liberals David Elliot and Mark Speakman.
But four MPs were dropped – Katrina Hodgkinson, Kevin Humphries, Matthew Mason-Cox and Jai Rowell.
The new team held their first executive council meeting after the swearing in before posing for a group photo on the steps of Government House.
