Sydney man led police in hour-long car chase
A man who allegedly stabbed and sexually assaulted a woman before leading police on an hour-long chase through Sydney has appeared in court.
Sean Gray, 33, is accused of attacking the woman during a domestic dispute in a flat at Kensington, in Sydney’s east, early on Saturday morning.
He appeared in Parramatta Local Court this morning where he was formally refused bail after declining to make an application.
Police said Gray was spotted by officers as he was driving away from the scene of the attack.
He allegedly led police on a pursuit along the M5, M7 and M2 motorways before reaching the Gore Hill freeway, where officers used road spikes to damage the car’s tyres and slow it down.
However, Gray continued to drive across the Sydney Harbour Bridge on flat tyres, with police in tow.
The pursuit ended outside the Surry Hills Police Station, where Gray was arrested and charged with wound with intent, sexual assault and leading police on a pursuit.
Gray will reappear in court on Thursday.
