Woman, children found dead

A woman and three children have been found dead in a farmhouse in the NSW Riverina district, while police hold grave concerns for a man missing from the property.

Police and emergency services received calls around 3pm (AEST) with at least half-a-dozen police vehicles reportedly rushing to the property at Lockhart, about 80km west of Wagga Wagga.

A police media spokeswoman confirmed there was a police operation underway at the property but declined to comment on the details.

Commander of Wagga Wagga local area command, Superintendent Bob Noble, told local media the bodies of four people were found at the home.

“There are a number of deceased people in a farmhouse on the property,” Supt Noble told The Daily Advertiser.

The paper said Supt Noble confirmed the bodies are those of a woman and three children, who are understood to have suffered gunshot wounds.

Police are now looking for a man, who is understood to have lived at the property.

“We’re very concerned for the welfare of that individual,” Supt Noble said.

“It’s very early in the investigation.”
