Say it ain’t so: Truck carrying wine destroyed by fire

A B-double truck carrying wine has been destroyed after catching fire on Sydney’s M1 Pacific Highway this morning.

All northbound lanes on the highway near the Hawkesbury River Bridge were closed as three fire crews fought the blaze.

Fire and Rescue NSW says the fire has since been extinguished with one northbound lane now open to traffic.

Superintendent Wayne Phillips says his crews ran out of water while attempting to bring the fire under control.

“We had a little bit of difficulty getting enough water onto the truck to extinguish it so our friends at RFS (Rural Fire Service) have assisted us with some of their tankers,” he said.

Earlier northbound traffic was queued back almost three kilometres.
