A man has been killed and a woman badly injured in a home invasion at Badgerys Creek in Sydney’s west early this morning.

Police have confirmed a 69-year-old man was found dead at the scene of the attack when police arrived at the property on Elizabeth Drive.

A woman, also thought to be in her sixties, has been taken to Liverpool Hospital with multiple injuries, including a severe head wound.

The women phoned 000 about 4am (AEST) to report she and her husband had been attacked in their home.

Police have not confirmed reports that three assailants attacked the couple with baseball bats.

A crime scene has been established while detectives from the Homicide Squad and forensics experts investigate.
