Armidale woman back in court over alleged employer fraud

A 51-year-old Armidale woman has been ordered to re-appear at court in December, charged with allegedly defrauding her employer of $750,000.

Stephanie West is facing nearly 70 fraud-related charges after a further two charges were added on Wednesday during an appearance at Armidale Local Court.

They include fraudulently writing and using a cheque valued at between five and fifteen thousand dollars.

The accused if now facing 28 counts of writing false cheques and 28 counts of using those false cheques,

She’s also been charged with nine counts of dishonestly obtaining financial advantage by deception and with two counts of dealing with property suspected of being the proceeds of crime.

During the execution of a search warrant last week, police seized a computer and a number of documents.

Magistrate Karen Stafford continued bail and has adjourned the matter to Armidale Local Court on December 18.

A plea is yet to be entered.
