Hospital mum’s parking fine paid by kind stranger

A Canberra mother has been shocked and heart-warmed to find a kind stranger had paid her parking fine.

Upon leaving hospital after spending nine days there with a sick baby, the exhausted mother was upset to see a parking fine sitting on her car windscreen.

But along with the parking fine, there was a pink post-it note informing the mother that the fine had already been paid for.

“Hi there,” it began.

“I saw your car had a parking ticket on it. I’m sure [that] whatever you are going through at hospital is tough enough, so I have paid for you.

“Hope things get better!”

The note included a BPay receipt number and the date and time the benevolent passerby had paid.

Clearly touched by the stranger’s good deed, the mother took to social media to offer her thanks to the person, who left no contact details.

“Over the past few days I have been in hospital with my 9-week-old son,” she wrote.

“We were discharged today and as I walked to my car I noticed that I had a parking ticket. After those days in hospital, a parking ticket was one more thing that I didn’t need.

“Well, to my surprise, when I opened the envelope, there was a note from a lovely lady named Laura.

“I hope that Laura sees this and knows how much I appreciate her support. Thank you so much.”
