Legs slashed with machete over stolen property

A man who allegedly slashed another man’s legs with a machete in a dispute over stolen property will face court.

The 36-year-old man allegedly committed the unprovoked attack during an argument over the stolen property on September 26, police say.

The victim received deep cuts to his legs, despite his two dogs’ attempts to protect their master, before the accused ran from the home in Watson.

On Friday, police executed a search warrant on the accused’s unit in Florey, where a machete was found in his bedroom and clothing was seized from his car.

The man was charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm and will face the ACT Magistrates Court on Saturday.
