A Queensland mother charged with the murder of her three-year-old daughter has been named, as horror details from the alleged crime scene emerged.
Lauren Ingrid Flanigan, 32, was arrested after police discovered the dead child in the front yard of a home in the quiet coastal community of Moore Park Beach on Monday.
Police said the child had multiple wounds to her body, and a bladed knife was seized from the scene.
“Upon arriving at that address, police located a three-year-old child in the front yard of that address,” Acting Superintendent Brad Inskip said.
Inskip said two other children, aged one and two, were also at the property at the time. Neither was injured.
Both are in the care of another family member.
“That address was declared a crime scene and we’ve got forensics and scientific officers processing that scene,” he said.
“No doubt it was a horrific scene.
“It’s a terrible, terrible incident for everyone, including the witnesses and neighbours, including the emergency services who attended.
“This is not something we ever want to attend.”
Inskip said police received multiple triple-zero calls.
“Despite multiple attempts from QPS and QAS to apply first aid to that child, that child unfortunately died due to the injuries that she had received.
“There were multiple wounds to the child’s body.”

Inskip said mental health and any prior interactions with police would likely form part of the investigation into the incident.
Community members have been urged to seek support after the incident.
Flanigan faced Bundaberg Magistrates Court on Tuesday, but did not appear in person.
Moore Park Beach is a coastal area north of Bundaberg, in central Queenland, popular with families and retirees.
The alleged murder has shocked the tight-knit community.
