‘Barnaby is not invited’: Anthony Albanese’s short answer to wedding guest list question

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese is yet to confirm the guest list for his upcoming wedding, but he is adamant at least one parliamentary colleague will not be there.
Albanese was a guest of The Kyle and Jackie O radio show on Sydney’s KISS FM via telephone on Wednesday when he was asked about his pending nuptials to Jodie Haydon.
Jackie O asked the Prime Minister if he planned to invite her co-host Kyle Sandilands, after Albanese was a guest at the shock jock’s wedding last year.
“Everyone at this point is on the maybe list except for [confirmed guests Jodie Haydon’s parents] Mr and Mrs Haydon,” Albanese said.
But when asked if former deputy prime minister Barnaby Joyce would be attending, the answer was unequivocal.
“Barnaby is not invited,” Albanese said.
When asked Joyce should have been helped instead of filmed when footage was leaked of the Nationals MP him lying intoxicated on a Canberra street last week, the Prime Minister agreed, but added it was not a great idea to lay on the street in the first place.
“Probably a good idea that it didn’t happen,” he said.
Sandilands and Jackie O called Joyce after the interview to break the news he would not be attending the PM’s wedding.
Joyce responded by wishing the couple the best of luck.
“I hope it all works out well, I hope he has a great day,” he said.
Albanese faced criticism last year when he attended the wedding of Sandilands and his partner Tegan Kynaston.

The star-studded, celebrity ‘wedding of the year’ took place in Darling Point in Sydney, with guests including singer Guy Sebastian, TV presenter Karl Stefanovic and former NRL player Beau Ryan.
Albanese announced his engagement to superannuation executive Jodie Haydon on February 15 after popping the question on Valentine’s Day.
Albanese is the first Australian prime minister to get engaged while in office, and will be the first leader to get married while serving in the position.
