Corby boyfriend on drug charges
Schapelle Corby's rumoured boyfriend Ben Panangian.
Schapelle Corby’s boyfriend has been reportedly arrested on drugs charges in Bali, potentially jeopardising her parole.
Corby’s boyfriend Ben Panangian, 32, was arrested on August 20 for allegedly possessing two packages of marijuana on the street in Nusa Dua, Bali.
According to a News Corp report Panagian, who met Corby in Kerobokan prison where he served time on drug charges, faces a maximum 12 years in jail.
Corby’s parole conditions stipulate she be on good behaviour and stay away from drugs.
But her parole officer Putu Andiyani, who did not know Corby had a boyfriend, it would not affect the Australian’s parole unless “she was with him when the arrest happened”.
“We don’t even know if it is her boyfriend. And they are not a married couple. So it is not related at all. However every time she reports to Bapas (the parole board) we always remind her about the danger of drugs,” Ms Andiyani told News Corp.
Denpasar police chief Djoko Hari Utomo said Panangian had been arrested during a raid on another man at a house in Nusa Dua.
Mr Utomo said after Panangian threw two packages allegedly containing marijuana onto the street, a subsequent raid of his home revealed more of the drug in a wardrobe.
