Stewart done for DUI
Manly fullback Brett Stewart was reportedly arrested today on drink driving charges.
According to Fairfax Media, the 29-year-old was taken to Mona Vale police station at 10am this morning following a night of drinking at the Steyne Hotel in Manly, New South Wales.
Stewart, who was on his way to a gathering at a friend’s home, reportedly recorded a blood alcohol content of 0.079 after stopping for a random breath test in the suburb of Warriewood.
“I had a few drinks last night. I went home, went to bed and got up this morning. I thought I was fine and headed off for some breakfast. I got pulled over and I blew low range,” Stewart told News Corp. “I’m really disappointed this has happened. I had no idea I was over the limit.”
Stewart was released on bail and is expected to appear in court in Manly on May 7.
This is not the first time that Stewart has made the news. In 2013 he was arrested but not charged for a fight with a 21-year-old and in 2009 was charged with the sexual assault of a 17-year-old. Stewart was found not guilty.
