Deputy Prime Minister Barnaby Joyce has confirmed he is separated from his wife.

During the debate on same-sex marriage laws on Thursday, Mr Joyce said he did not come to the parliamentary chamber “pretending to be any sort of saint”.

“I acknowledge that I’m currently separated, so that’s on the record,” the Nationals leader said.
