Australian Muslim preachers targeted by Islamic State

Three prominent Australian Islamic scholars have been named as “apostates” in a new video by Islamic State.

The Sydney Morning Herald reports youth leader Sheikh Shady Alsuleiman, NSW Police Force chaplain Sheikh Ahmed Abdo and the Grand Mufti of Australia, Ibrahim Abu Mohamed are mentioned in a new propaganda video by the radical group.

The video calls on followers to kill the three men, and mentions other leaders from across the Islamic world, saying they’re “collaborators, informers and apostates” for discouraging violence.

The 25-minute video, titled ‘Fight the leaders of disbelief’, calls on followers to kill the three men, and mentions other leaders from across the Islamic world, saying they’re “collaborators, informers and apostates”, News Corp reported.

Fairfax said the the three Australians were attacked for calling on Muslims to follow the laws of the countries in which they live and discouraging violence in the name of Islam.

“Those traitors are sitting in airconditioned rooms attacking the mujahideen and supporting the polytheists,” the video said. “Put an end to their evilness and kill them.”

The video, spoken in Arabic, has reportedly since been removed by YouTube.
