Controversial columnist Andrew Bolt has suggested rogue Liberal Senator Cory Bernardi should cut ties and lead his own ‘conservative’ political party.
Appearing on The Project on Tuesday night, Mr Bolt said there was definitely room for this new party, which would sit significantly to the right of Malcolm Turnbull’s Liberals and their National Party colleagues, Fairfax Media reported.

Bolt told the audience he had received “1000 comments and emails”, with “99 per cent” of the authors swearing to never vote Liberal again after the leadership change.
“Where are they going to go?” he asked.
In response to a question, Bolt agreed Mr Bernardi could be the man for the job.
“I must say, there is talk – really loose talk, I’m not beating it up into something bigger than it is – of where is there a party for conservatives? Will there be, in the future, a party for conservatives? I think that might turn out to be the problem. In the Senate you might get conservatives thinking, ‘I’ll vote for someone else’.”
South Australian Senator Bernardi has been recently slammed – by colleagues and the opposition – for describing Syrian asylum seekers as “opportunistic” and linking same-sex relations to bestiality.
