The WA family that won the $50 million lottery
A Perth family of self-described “battlers” who won a $50 million Lotto jackpot will use the money for home renovations and to pay off debt.
The family, from a southern Perth suburb, took out the jackpot in Thursday night’s Powerball draw.
The single ticket, purchased at a newsagency in Armadale, had all the correct numbers, making it the biggest Lotto prize ever won in the state.

The previous top prize won in WA was $30 million.
One of the winners, whose names have not been revealed, said she started “seriously shaking” seeing all the numbers line up.
“I thought I must have been seeing things,” she said in a statement.
“We’re just a hard battling family and we don’t want this win to change us.
“This never happens to people like us!”
The family will use the money to undertake home renovations and pay down their debt, while they will also give to charity.
“Now we can pay off debt, take care of our family and do some much needed home renovations,” they said.
“We also want to donate to charity and we can with this amount.”
