Marriage equality push gathers corporate steam

Australia’s corporate heavyweights are joining the push for marriage equality, with 154 companies taking out a full-page advertisement in The Weekend Australian Magazine.

The firms have all signed a letter calling on federal parliament to act to legalise same-sex marriage.

The big four banks, Australian Super, Google, McDonalds, Twitter, Telstra, Airbnb, Durex and David Jones are among the companies behind the campaign, which was featured on page 11 of the magazine on Saturday.

The bottom of the advertisement reads “very soon, we’re going to need a bigger ad”, a reference to the 154 companies on board – roughly triple that which last took out a full-page ad in The Australian.
