Treasurer Joe Hockey says he is not the federal cabinet leaker as he did not attend the meeting which discussed citizenship.

Media reports suggest there was a rift within federal cabinet last week over a move to strip terror suspects of their Australian citizenship, but the source of the leak has not been identified.

Communications Minister Malcolm Turnbull denied he was behind it earlier this week and said it was “deplorable” that information had got out.

Prime Minister Tony Abbott warned ministers of the ‘personal and political consequences’ after the leak.

“Here’s a bit of a confession – I wasn’t at the meeting,” Mr Hockey told 2GB radio on Friday.
