Labor takes a hit in Qld: poll

Internal woes within the Queensland Labor Party could be to blame for falling behind the LNP Opposition in a recent poll.
According to a Morgan Poll looking at state-by-state voting intention, if an election was held in Qld today it would be too close to call.
The LNP has enjoyed a resurgence and reclaimed the lead from the recently elected ALP, ahead at 52 per cent compared to 48 per cent.

The shift could be blamed on the ongoing troubles with former North Qld Labor MP Billy Gordon, who is facing allegations of domestic violence in past relationships.
But Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk’s personal appeal hasn’t been impacted by the infighting. She in enjoying a 23 per cent lead over Opposition Leader Lawrence Springborg.
Meanwhile, the honeymoon continues for recently re-elected NSW Premier Mike Baird and new Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews.
Mr Baird, who leads the Coalition in NSW, has increased the already strong lead he won at the NSW election.
The Coalition is up 4 per cent since April at 58.5 per cent on a two-party preferred basis, with Labor dropping four per cent, to 41.5 per cent.
Mr Baird is also the preferred leader, ahead of Opposition Leader Luke Foley by 2.3 per cent.
Since coming into power in Victoria six months ago, Mr Andrews’ Labor Party continues to lead the popularity stakes.
The Victorian ALP is up 2.5 per cent since April at 56.5 per cent, still well ahead of the Coalition.
Mr Andrews leads Opposition Leader Matthew Guy 63 per cent, to 37 per cent.
Meanwhile in Western Australia, the Labor opposition leads 51 per cent to 49 per cent.
In South Australia, the Coalition opposition leads 50.5 per cent to the ALP’s 49.5 per cent.
Tasmania’s Labor Opposition is down 3 per cent since April, but still leads the Liberal Opposition by six per cent.
