Greens’ Whitlam poster ‘opportunism’: Albanese
A Greens Party campaign poster paying tribute to late Labor Prime Minister Gough Whitlam has been slammed by Labor frontbencher Anthony Albanese as “opportunism of the worst kind”.
Mr Albanese said the poster, which lauds Whitlam’s abolition of university fees and features a Greens logo, was “offensive” and “inappropriate”.
“I find it offensive that there is the great man’s legacy with a Greens political party logo on it. I think it is an attempt in an opportunist way to use Gough Whitlam’s legacy,” Mr Albanese said.

“It’s one thing to attempt to say Medicare is a Greens legacy as opposed to a Labour legacy.”
“It’s another thing completely to use, on the day of the great man’s passing, an image of him with the Greens Party logo on the poster.”
