Three escape from WA detention centre

· Lifeboats to return asylum seekers

Police have recaptured two people who escaped from a West Australian detention centre but are still looking for a third person.

The Vietnamese nationals scaled fences at the Yongah Hill centre about 2pm (WST) on Sunday.

A spokeswoman for the Minister for Immigration and Border Protection said the detention services provider would conduct an investigation into the circumstances of the escape.

“The minister is awaiting a report from the service provider on previous escapes and is following this matter up with his department on his return from annual leave,” she said.
