Govt gives Mirabella submarine company job
The federal government has found a job for former Liberal MP Sophie Mirabella, who lost her seat at the election.
She is one of three new board members at Australia’s largest specialised defence shipbuilder, ASC Pty Ltd.
The company, formerly known as the Australian Submarine Corporation, is responsible for maintenance and design upgrades to the navy’s fleet of Collins class submarines.
Finance Minister Mathias Cormann said Ms Mirabella’s legal background and extensive experience working with the manufacturing industry meant she would make a valuable contribution to the government-owned company.
He also appointed former Alinta manager Peter Iancov and former NAB, Telstra and BlueScope Steel executive Paul Rizzo to the board.
