Adelaide drivers now using dual Britannia roundabout
Adelaide drivers are navigating the dual Britannia Roundabout for the first time. Although a new, smaller roundabout is not yet completed, there are now lines and bollards marking out the new configuration. The redesign is an effort to ensure motorists only have to give way to one lane of traffic at any point. South Australian Transport Minister Tom Koutsantonis hopes the dual roundabouts will prove safer. He said there are crashes at the complex corner more than once a week. “It’s been a problem that’s vexed Adelaide for over 60 years. I think this solution will work, I’ve backed the engineer, I think the [Transport] Department has come up with a really innovative solution to fix one of the worst intersections in South Australia,” he said.
