Living his best life: Fundraising hero Captain Tom’s wonderful 2020
British veteran Captain Tom Moore set out to raise £1000 ($A1775) for the National Health Service, by walking 100 laps of his garden with the aid of his walker.
The good Captain obliterated that target, raising more than £30 million. His countryfolk rallied around him, dubbing him a hero and a beacon of hope amid the coronavirus pandemic.
The Captain was promoted to a Colonel and then knighted by the Queen of England. He’s released an autobiography, and most recently – he’s going to be the subject of a movie.
