Six days after surviving a plane crash, an Indian man has hit the jackpot, winning a million-dollar lottery.
Being hailed as the world’s luckiest man, Mohammad Basher Abdul Khadar, was on the terrifying Emirates flight EK521, which crash-landed at Dubai airport.
He, along with 300 other passengers, narrowly escaped the plane before it was engulfed in flames and exploded on the tarmac.
And now, Mr Khadar, 62, has won the golden ticket in the Dubai Duty Free Millennium Millionaire lottery, Gulf News reported, winning the equivalent of $A1.3 million.
“I have been working in Dubai for 37 years, and I have always felt like this is my country,” he said.
“I live a simple life, and now that it’s my time to retire, I feel like God gave me a second life when I survived the plane crash, and blessed me with this money to follow all this up by doing good things.
“I knew God saved me for some specific purpose. Probably this is it.”
He said it was the 17th lottery ticket he had bought over the years and now plans to retire to his homeland and help those less fortunate with the winnings.
Mr Khader had worked as an auto mechanic since 1977.
He purchased the ticket before going on a family holiday to Thiruvananthapuram in the south Indian state of Kerala.
