Five teenage boys have been arrested after an alleged carjacking and robbery rampage in Melbourne on Monday night.
The boys, aged 13-16, allegedly drove a stolen white Range Rover Discovery during their crime spree in the city’s eastern suburbs.
The car had been stolen from the Albert Park area on February 8.
On Monday night, police said the teens were involved in several burglaries, including stealing cigarettes from a service station and from a shop in Croydon.
They also allegedly attempted to rob a service station on Bayswater Road in Bayswater North.
Police later spotted the Range Rover being driven erratically on Capital Avenue, in Glen Waverley, about 11pm.
Police followed the vehicle through multiple suburbs by air and on the ground.
Soon after, the Range Rover was dumped in Wantirna.
The boys then allegedly tried to steal a vehicle at the intersection of Burwood Highway and Stud Road, but were unsuccessful.
The teenagers then allegedly stole a Ford Focus during an aggravated carjacking on Stud Road.
Police said the driver was threatened with a knife, although not physically injured.
The teenagers fled in the Focus towards Box Hill, where stop sticks were successfully deployed. The car came to a stop on Belmore Road, Mont Albert North.
The five male occupants then fled on foot.
Four boys from the Dandenong area, aged 13, 14, 15 and 16, and a 15-year-old boy from the Moorabbin area were all arrested nearby.
They were taken into custody and will be interviewed by police.
Victoria Police’s Operation Trinity has targeting burglars and car thieves each night since March 2023. The operation runs from dusk until dawn across Melbourne.
