Two brothers have been arrested in dramatic scenes in a Queensland park over the alleged shooting death of a woman.

Chloe Mason, 23, was allegedly chased down a street and shot dead in Caboolture, north of Brisbane, just days before Christmas.

The two wanted men, who were known to the victim, were named in the media as Codye Thomson, 29, and Kaine Thomson-Gleeson, 32.

They were thought to have fled to northern NSW after the fatal attack two weeks ago and were believed to be sleeping rough.

Police had appealed to the public for help locating the siblings and had warned that they could be extremely dangerous.

On Monday afternoon, the two men were arrested in a park in Logan, south of Brisbane, without incident and in front of shocked families.

They were later charged with one count each of murder and are due to appear in Brisbane Magistrates Court on Tuesday.

Mason, remembered by loved ones as a “beautiful woman”, was found unconscious on a Caboolture street early on December 22. She died at the scene.

Authorities allege Mason had gone to an address where there was an altercation.

Police spoke to the brothers as witnesses after Mason was discovered. They were released without charge.

Detective Inspector David Harbison said last Friday that police obtained arrest warrants after being satisfied they had sufficient evidence.

Police alleged the two men fled interstate in a white Holden Commodore wagon. Monday’s arrest followed a cross-border manhunt.

Detectives had been searching northern NSW for the pair.

“Investigators have worked tirelessly to locate the accused and police appreciate the assistance we have received from the community,” Harbison said.

The Commodore the men were travelling in was yet to be found, police said.

Mason’s sister Hannah McKone led tributes after her death, saying she had loved children but would now never have the chance to become a mother.

“Grieving the life you never got to have and the experiences we didn’t get the chance to share. You would’ve been the most amazing mother,” she wrote on Facebook.

Another loved one wrote: “Rest in paradise beautiful girl, you were loved my so so many and will be missed and remembered by all.”
