A US lawyer says he is representing 120 accusers who have come forward with sexual misconduct allegations against Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs, the hip-hop mogul who is awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges.
Houston lawyer Tony Buzbee said he expected lawsuits to be filed within the next month.
Buzbee described the victims as 60 males and 60 females, and said that 25 were minors at the time of the alleged misconduct – including a boy aged just nine.
He said his team had been contacted by more than 3285 people alleging they had been victimised by Combs in the past two decades.
“There are many people and many entities involved, and we are going to follow this evidence, wherever it takes us,” Buzbee said.
“We will find the silent accomplices, we will expose the enablers who enabled this conduct behind closed doors, and we will pursue this matter, no matter who the evidence implicates. These brave victims who have stepped forward deserve nothing less.”
He said the allegations against the rapper were the “biggest secret in the entertainment industry, which really wasn’t a secret at all”.
Buzbee said the group was “evenly divided” between male and female, with 62 per cent of individuals identifying as African American, 30 per cent white, and the remainder Hispanic or Asian.
“I want to focus on the ages of these victims. When we talk about the ages of the victims when the conduct occurred its shocking,” he said.
“Our youngest victim at the time of the occurrence was nine years old. We have an individual who was 14 years old. We have one who was 15.”
Combs, 54, has been locked up at the Metropolitan Detention Centre in Brooklyn since pleading not guilty on September 17 to federal charges that he used his “power and prestige” to induce female victims into drugged-up, elaborately produced sexual performances with male sex workers in events dubbed “freak offs”.
Lawyers and other representatives for Combs did not immediately respond to an email seeking comment.
Buzbee has also represented women who accused NFL quarterback Deshaun Watson of sexual assault.
