A man charged with murder is accused of supplying two friends drugs then failing to call triple zero when they had an adverse reaction.

Steven Mataka Henry was taken into custody after police found two people unresponsive at a Mitchelton home in Brisbane’s north before 9am on Thursday.

The 41-year-old did not appear in Brisbane Magistrates Court when his charges were mentioned on Friday.

Due to the serious nature of the charges Henry was unable to apply for bail.

A 61-year-old man from Keperra and a 35-year-old Mitchelton woman were declared dead at the scene.

Court documents named the alleged murder victims as Stephen John Peters and Jasmine Lee Sloane.

Senior Sergeant Mick Jones said the pair were friends and had no intimate relationship.

He said Henry, of Greenslopes, was also friends with the two victims and was taken into custody at the Kentville Street residence on Thursday.

Jones alleged Henry supplied a combination of drugs, believed to be cocaine and methylamphetamine to the pair, on Wednesday night.

“I wouldn’t say dealer,” he told reporters on Friday.

“But the investigations that we’ve conducted and what we’ve put before the court indicate that he brought the drugs to the premises and supplied those drugs to the persons there.”

Jones said Henry told police he had consumed drugs that evening but whether he used the same substances as the pair who died would form part of their investigation.

He alleged Henry failed to call triple zero when Peters and Sloane had an “adverse reaction” to the substances.

One of four children at the home called emergency services on Thursday morning.

Henry has been charged with two counts of murder (reckless indifference) and two counts of supplying cocaine to Sloane and Peters, according to court documents.

He is also charged with unlawful possession of cocaine and methylamphetamine.

His charges are set to be mentioned again in the same court on October 8.
