A 21-year-old woman who had once dreamed of following in her policeman father’s footsteps has been identified as the latest victim of an alleged domestic violence murder.
Nunia Kurualeba was found with two stab wounds to her chest in Sydney’s west.
Her boyfriend Jeremaia Tuwai has been charged with stabbing Kurualeba at a unit in Kingswood about 1.40pm on Monday.
Paramedics and police found Kurualeba after another person in the complex called triple zero. She was treated by first responders but died at the scene.
A man was seen running from the area at the time, triggering a major search.
Police arrested Tuwai on Monday night. He was taken to Penrith police station where he was charged with domestic violence-related murder.
Officers had not previously been called to the Kingswood address and police said there were no court orders to protect Kurualeba.
Tuwai did not apply for bail when he appeared in court on Tuesday
Only hours before she was found dead on Monday, the smiling young woman posted photos of herself to social media.
In one of the happy images she is seemingly posing on the driveway of the unit complex where she was found dead.
As a 14-year-old girl in 2016, Kurualeba told the Fiji Sun she wanted to follow in the footsteps of her fallen policeman father.
